Hospice Care of the Lowcountry Welcomes New Executive Director/CEO

Hospice Care of the Lowcountry (HCL) announced that the organization’s Board of Directors has appointed James Dismond as Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2023. He succeeds Jenny Brasington, the Executive Director of the organization of 13 years.

Dismond has served with HCL for more than two years as the Senior Director of Business Development and has over nine years of non-profit and senior leadership experience. As the Senior Director of Business Development at HCL, Dismond oversaw the fundraising aspects of the organization: From unique fundraising experiences like Yacht Hop on Hilton Head Island, to the founding of the first community-based at-home palliative care program in Beaufort County, to community-first outreach initiatives, Dismond’s belief and commitment to the mission of HCL is evident. Dismond previously worked as the Area Director of Resources Development at the Boys & Girls Club of America.

“After a strenuous vetting, James was selected as the best fit for the future of HCL by careful analysis and a tedious interview process,” said A. Jaqueline Dout, Board Chair of HCL’s Board of Directors. “For those of you who know James, you will agree that he is an architect of big dreams, an executer of thorough plans, and an achiever of audacious goals. He has demonstrated belief and commitment to the mission of HCL and the vision for the future of HCL.”

“I am honored to be selected as HCL’s new Executive Director/CEO,” said Dismond. “In my over two years with the non-profit, I developed a deep appreciation for what makes our organization so special — That hospice care is not about dying, it’s about living. My heart for this community and the mission of HCL are aligned. I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead this organization to serve all people in the lowcountry with end-of-life care that is compassionate, honoring, and dignifying.”

Hospice Care of the Lowcountry is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 hospice and palliative care organization serving Beaufort and Jasper Counties since 1982.
